Malouf Group Pharmacies supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
JDRF's Research Initiatives Set The Pace To A Cure.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) continues to set the agenda for research
into a cure for diabetes and its complications.
We continue to build upon a strong base of knowledge, on research
currently being funded, and on the latest advances in biomedical
technology.
As research continues within and across our three goal areas, the
fast track for the cure increases in potential and speed. 30 years
of pioneering research, focused by the needs of people with diabetes,
has created quantum increases in the knowledge of diabetes and great
potential for a cure.
From its beginnings as a small group of hopeful parents funding
individual research grants, we are now thousands of dedicated volunteers
supporting researchers working on a business-world, road-mapped approach
to a cure. Our research program is designed to bring scientific advances
from the bench top to the bedside.
The JDRF model sets
- A proactive approach to the scientific research community,
with JDRF presenting the priority problems it wants addressed
- A flexible, fast-track review of applications for research projects
- A results-oriented process of evaluation, with agreed-upon goals
and endpoints.
JDRF’s priorities are based on our knowledge of the needs
of people with diabetes, developed over our organisation’s
30-year history. The research priorities reflect the three fundamental
goals of the Foundation’s research program:
- Goal #1: Restoration of normal blood sugar levels
- Goal #2: Avoidance and reversal of complications
- Goal #3: Prevention of diabetes and its recurrence.
Over the past 5 years, Malouf Group Pharmacies has raised on average
over $15,000 per year in Queensland for the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation. Each store gets behind this promotion
raising funds through raffles, sausage sizzles, chocolate drives,
jelly-bean guessing competitions and much more.
